Hot off the press

I had the best studio day that I've had in awhile! I took advantage of the fact that my client who I'm waiting to hear back from about our project and what I should do on it had off for MLK day today. I do feel a little guilty for not doing the day of service, but I'll do it another day...

The press worked great! I had played with it a bit since I got it about 2 weeks ago, but nothing planned or controlled, just experiments to get the press working right (paper soak time, gauge setting, etc) But this is the start of the series that I mentioned in my last post. I have 4 of them drawn, but am thinking of making more- it's a quote from an 80's teen movie (in this case, Heathers) with an object illustrated. I'm doing a combo of monotype, watercolor/ gouache and ink. I'm having so much fun with it, and have all the Molly Ringwald/ John Hughes ones in my Netflix queue for more inspiration. I was so into it, that these 5 and a few more ghost prints and test prints were all done today. I think the others may take longer too since they aren't as simple a shape as the milk carton. Anyway- fun, fun, fun!
